A well-kept hardwood board will outlive you. Here's how.
Wash by hand.
Warm water, mild soap, soft cloth. Never the dishwasher. Never standing water. Don't let it sit wet.
Dry on edge.
Stand it up so air hits both sides. If you stack it flat while wet, one side dries faster — and that's how boards warp.
Oil monthly.
Food-grade mineral oil. Wipe on liberally, let it soak overnight, buff off in the morning. Once a month for the first year, then every few months after.
Refresh with wax.
Once or twice a year, finish with our cutting-board wax (mineral oil + beeswax + carnauba). Hydrates the wood, repels water, smells like a workshop.
Send it back when worn.
